  • To process and confirm workshop booking appointments

  • To arrange delivery of parts orders where applicable
  • To send booking confirmations and calendar invitations
  • To follow up on workshop jobs and provide post-service communication
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal information on the basis of your consent (given when you submit a booking or enquiry form), and where necessary for the performance of a contract or service agreement with you (i.e. carrying out a workshop assessment or supplying parts you have ordered).

5. How We Store and Protect Your Information

Personal information submitted via our website is stored in a secure database hosted by Supabase (a GDPR and SOC 2 compliant cloud database provider). We apply the following protection measures:

  • Encrypted storage and transmission (HTTPS / TLS)
  • Access restricted to authorised BC Services staff only
  • Row-level security controls on all customer data
  • No storage of payment card details (we do not process online payments)

6. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Logistics providers — courier/delivery partner details only, when delivering parts to your address
  • Email service providers — to send booking confirmations and service notifications on our behalf
  • Legal authorities — where required by law or court order

7. Retention Period

We retain customer records (booking history, contact details, vehicle information) for a period of 5 years from the date of last interaction, in accordance with South African commercial record-keeping requirements. After this period, records are securely deleted. You may request earlier deletion — see Section 9 below.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses only essential technical cookies required for the site to function (session management, security). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that collect personal information. Standard web server access logs may record your IP address and pages visited for security and performance monitoring purposes.

9. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Be notified when your personal information is collected
  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Object to the processing of your personal information
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
